Fried Tofu

Ingredients

  • 1 420 g block firm tofu
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Canola oil for frying

Instructions

  • Pat tofu dry and gently press to remove excess water.
  • Slice into 1/2 inch slices.
  • Place cornstarch in a medium size shallow bowl.
  • Dip the tofu in the cornstarch, fully and lightly coating both sides. Set aside.
  • Add a little oil to a wok or large pan set over medium high heat.
  • Once the oil is hot enough, (check by adding drops of water to oil. If it sizzles, it's hot enough) add the tofu slices, 4 to 5 at a time. Let cook on one side until browned, about 1 minutes. Flip and brown the other side.
  • Remove from wok or pan when done. Serve immediately.
